What is Restorative Justice?
Restorative Justice emphasizes repairing the harm caused by a crime. Those most directly involved and affected by crime should have the opportunity to participate fully in the RJ process if they wish.
A key element in the RJ process is offender accountability and responsibility.
When victims, offenders and community members meet face-to-face in a safe environment, the results are often transformational.
The meeting/conference often concludes with an attempt to reach agreement on steps the offender will take to repair the harm suffered by the victim and in other ways to "make things right".
Restorative Justice practices may take many different avenues, depending on the needs and wants of the victim(s). For more information on what the options are, please contact Robin.
